The group for the culture of speech - Radio Slovenia

The group for the culture of speech in Radio Slovenia, working under the leadership of Cvetka Šeruga is given the award for the planned, non-formal education of radio, and lately also television, speakers.

The care for the culture of speech has a 40-years tradition in Radio Slovenia. The bases for the training were set by Ana Mlakar; among nowadays mentors there are also her pupils following the noble tradition of her school. The group consists of three professors of the Slovene language and the speakers. The training is intended mainly for younger radio speakers and reporters. The lessons are delivered in small groups (8 candidates) and last two semesters for the reporters and three for the speakers. The most extensive field of phonetic exercises is intended to proper speech. The starting points for all the exercises are the most common mistakes heard in the Slovene language in public use. The practical exercises before the microphone are based on the years of experiences of the best speakers in Radio Slovenia.
