Dolores Novak from Postojna

Dolores Novak, today 25 year old, has been chained to bed and wheelchair because of the traffic accident. Her head was injured severely in this accident and she had to learn anew the skill of walking, talking, reading and writing ... After several years of rehabilitation she is finishing upper secondary school on Health Services in Ljubljana. In autonomous learning centres in Peoples' university in Postojna and Athena she is acquiring her knowledge on computers and foreign languages. In the association Gaja in Postojna, she is learning ceramics which helps her integration in everyday life beat. Dolores enraptured the proposers with her perseverance, serenity, her positive outlook on life, her self-reliance and her immense desire for learning. "Dolores is an example for all those who wish to change something in heir lives. She has proved that enrichment of one's own knowledge brings about big, positive changes in the personal growth, as well as in the inter-human relations" say those proposing her for the award.
