Prof. Srečko Krč was granted the award for the longstanding organisational and mentorial work in the domain of adult education, primarily within the framework of the Jesenice's University of the Third Age. He devoted himself to the education of adults in the middle of the seventies already, when he exchanged his professorship at the Jesenice Grammar School for the professional work at the Folk Highschool, which he also successfully headed for eight years. Under his leadership the numbers of educational programmes and employed persons were constantly on the increase. He also introduced education for youngsters and parents and popular lectures for the wider audience. All those years he also remained active as a mentor and lecturer in schools for adults. He additionally educated himself by attending programmes at the Association of Slovenian Adult Education Centres, the National Education Institute and Slovenian Institute for Adult Education. After retirement, his creative enthusiasm has not faded away; he became an active member of the Jesenice Pensioners Association and founded the University of the Third Age, which he is also successfully heading from 1994 onward. He is enthusiastic about all new educational approaches and techniques and also joined the promotion of lifelong learning within the framework of LLW. From 1999 on he is a very successful leader of the events included in the Lifelong Learning Week in the Jesenice Municipality. Jesenice's LLW distinguishes itself - due to Srečko Krč's contributions - with its tradition of cooperation, with the intergenerational collaboration of authors of Jesenice's cultural life and with an educational vibrancy in the time of the festival of learning, as well as with the extent of programmes and the quality of the educational and other festival's events.
