The women designers of textile products with elements of the traditional textile heritage met when they attended an education course of the same name as unemployed persons at Murska Sobota Folk High School. In the course – which lasted 285 hours – they exceeded everyone’s expectations, including those of the leaders, mentors and themselves. Together they did a lot more than the course required of them. Instead of just two, each participant made as many as five or more textile products. Actually making these items demanded a lot of free time, as well as their own (travel) costs, which were considerable for unemployed women. As the course progressed they wove ties of friendship amongst themselves. They are continuing to study and socialise in a study circle. They would like to be able to set up a social enterprise, and in that way secure some regular monthly income.
