Jože Breznik MA from Maribor

Jože Breznik's professional way is inseparably connected to education. He was not content with his original occupation that of metallurgic turner. He comes from numerous worker's family where he was the only one having the opportunity to study. At first education was the means in achieving his own aims but he soon became aware that knowledge and positive experiences could be used successfully in creating better learning opportunities for others. For him part-time study opened up the way to become a teacher of practical instruction, teacher of technical subjects and the headmaster of the vocational secondary school. Later on he became assistant in higher education. As the founder and director of the first private upper secondary school in Slovenia he introduces modern, adult friendly, forms of education. And what does lifelong learning mean for him? "We have to learn" he says "improve ourselves, reach higher horizons of knowledge! Not only because of work also because of higher quality of life."
