The Town of Slovenj Gradec develops and supports numerous educational activities for people of all ages, whether it is formal education or simply the expansion of the education culture. It is no coincidence that the first Learning Exchange in Slovenia to be fully funded by a municipality began operating this year in Slovenj Gradec. At a time when the success of municipal leadership is in many places measured in terms of kilometres of new road, investment in an activity which does not provide formal knowledge, but which does provide satisfaction to everybody who has retained a curiosity for the many secrets of the world and to those who wish to share their knowledge with others, is a brave act.
