As a part of the Lifelong Learning Week (LLW) 2005 the Slovenian Institute for Adult Education organized the Ninth adult education colloquium, which was held on 14th and 15th October 2005 in the Hotel Mons, Ljubljana. The colloquium began directly after the official opening of the LLW 2005, which marked the tenth anniversary of the Festival of learning in Slovenia.

This year’s internationally flavoured event, with the title Effective Education and Learning for Active Citizenship, relates to the European Year of Citizenship through Education – EYCE.

The purpose of the colloquium was to highlight the main conceptual shifts in our understanding of active and democratic citizenship, to encourage active participation, and especially to promote links between active citizenship and lifelong learning. The working language was English.
