About
The first Parade within the Slovenian Lifelong Learning Week (LLW) - at that time called the Knowledge parade - was carried out by SIAE in October 2005 marking LLW's 10th anniversary. Taking place in one of Ljubljana's central parks, Park Zvezda, it consisted of presentations of lifelong learning providers on stands and public appearances of learners on stage. The whole-day event was supported by the Ljubljana municipality. This experience lead to the conclusion that it would be worthwhile for the Parade to become an annual event, reaching out to even more people, especially to the educationally deprived ones, but it took eight years to get this opportunity within the framework of the 'Implementation of the renewed EAAL 2012-2014 in Slovenia' project. Consequently, two series of LPs were designed to take place in connection with LLW 2013 and LLW 2014, each time in seven local areas in Slovenia.

The festival part of LP will be a 'fair' of opportunities for learning and creativity in a public place (in city squares, parks, shopping centres, etc.). Participants and passersby will be invited to stands with information and guidance services, lectures, workshops, projections, public appearances of successful learners - role models from all generations, cultural events, and other - for the widest public attractive - events.

The professional part of LP will take place in fora of politicians (local, regional, national), representatives of adult education providers, other stakeholders and partners as well as learners with the aim to create a 'mini-manifesto' on challenges in adult education in each local area.

For these purposes, a tight cooperation has been established between the national coordinator, SIAE, and local LP (as well as LLW) coordinators. Partnerships among providers of formal and non-formal adult education and learning have been set up as well as collaboration between various sectors (education, culture, agriculture, environment, health etc.). A proactive approach to stimulating potential learners with special emphasis on educationally deprived groups has been taken. Synergy of practice, profession, policy, media and the widest public has been achieved via effiecient motivational and promotional measures.
