This coastal statistical region with the sub-Mediterranean climate is the only one with an exit to the sea. Natural features enable the development of tourism, transport and special agricultural crops. Three quarters of gross value added are created by services. Agricultural holdings in this region are among the smallest in Slovenia.
The Koper municipality is one of eleven urban municipalities in Slovenia. It is bilingual because of the Italian national minority living in it. Natural conditions enable development of tourism, transport and growing of special vegetables. General data:
